Take a Look Inside Clark Airport’s Outstanding Architecture

Airport natin to! Clark International Airport is included in the Prix Versailles’ most beautiful airports in the world list. The airport’s huge glow-up from its old terminal design also surprised many passengers.

But did you know that there’s more to CRK’s architecture than meets the eye?

Taking inspiration from the airport’s exterior architecture designed by BUDJI+ROYAL, its interior designers Populous and Casas+ Architects made stepping inside the new terminal building feel like a travel destination on its own. CRK’s overall design is inspired by the landscapes of Central Luzon such as Mt. Arayat and Mt. Pinatubo.

It’s hard to miss the roof’s arched structure which is designed to mirror the mountain ranges of Zambales. The roof’s material, Glulam, is engineered wood imported from Austria and adds to the tropical tones of the area. The color palette dominating the airport also reflects natural sceneries such as caves, riverbeds, and bodies of water like Mt. Pinatubo’s crater lake.

The gray floors throughout the airport take the color of “lahar” or volcanic debris from Mount Pinatubo. This color is used to represent the crucial event that shook the nation and tested the resilience of Kapampangans – the eruption of Mount Pinatubo in 1991.

There’s no need to worry about getting lost inside the airport too. The airport’s boarding gates are color-coded and easy to navigate. The international boarding gates have green carpets and chairs to represent Mt. Arayat which the area faces, while the domestic boarding gates are blue to represent the Manila Bay which it faces.

Clark International Airport is filled with symbolisms and representations of Filipino pride and heart. As a bonus, its one-of-a-kind architecture makes it full of “instagrammable” spots that you can use for your next travel post! So, if you haven’t already, why not book a flight via CRK and experience it for yourself?
